“Cleans the pool” does not always mean the same coverage.
Floor-only, floor-and-wall, waterline and surface coverage are different capabilities. Your pool geometry decides which ones matter.
Turn coverage into requirements.
If wall buildup or the waterline is one of the chores you are trying to eliminate, do not treat those zones as bonus features. Make them must-haves and then compare navigation, filtration, runtime and pool compatibility among the survivors.
Our rule: a product that misses a required cleaning zone cannot become the strongest fit merely because it performs well elsewhere.
Geometry still matters
Steps, shelves, ledges, slopes and unusual transitions can make a nominal “wall-cleaning” claim less informative. That is why newer products with explicit platform or shallow-water claims are being evaluated separately rather than assuming all full-coverage robots behave identically.
